Econet Wireless continues to strengthen its foothold in the Home solar market by reducing their Home solar power stations by almost 50% from $99 to $49. The announcement was made via the company’s twitter page.
As a result of increased solar kits distributors in Harare and the way Zesa is behaving trying to be the Zesa of 1999, Econet wireless has seen it fit cut the price of its Home Solar Power Stations. The majority of the solar kits are coming in from South Africa and Zambia and they have been sold at a far lower price at around $30 to $50 depending on the number of light the kit has.
One advantage to lowering the Home Solar Power Stations price point, according to a few anonymous retail executives, is making the new generation of Solar Kits more enticing for the tobacco farms since the tobacco sale season is about to start .
The price difference between the Econet Home Solar Kits and Zambian ones was a lot, so many customers are not willing to buy the Econet Home Solar Power Station models.
