Starsat Pay-Tv Launching This Year In Zimbabwe

Starsat  rebranded last year from the TopTV brand.  It took half a decade but the type of television that pay-tv operators has been lacking most is finally on its way ; movies, tv series , reality shows ,and exclusive rights to sporting events. And this year they will be crossing the Limpopo river.

StarSat, South Africa is a subsidiary of the Chinese satellite television provider, StarTimes, operating in South Africa that began broadcasting on 1 May 2010.

StarSat, hopes to win over hearts of Zimbabweans with over 100 channels on air, a source close to the development told Techunzipped.

Speaking on the developments the source said they were now at the final stages of signing official dealers agents for Starsat in Zimbabwe and very soon we should be seeing then in the streets of Harare.

Sport broadcasts, although one of the most expensive to procure, remain one of the real drivers of pay-tv subscriber growth. Starsat has about 13 % sport.

Its debut will mean the end of Zimbabwe pay-tv subscribers automatically finding all major sport events on SuperSport and DStv, Zimbabweans will have a chance to choice from wide range of options .

StarSat services are broadcast via satellite, using the SES5 satellite at the 5°E orbital position, and 3 of the six 36 MHz transponders in the ‘Sub Saharan Africa Ku-band’ beam providing coverage of the whole sub-Saharan Africa region.

Starsat packages will start from $10 which is the Starsat special, followed by the Starsat Super which goes for $19 then the Starsat Sport Plus which is $25.
