WhatsApp, the king messengering apps, with over a billion daily users. The company has officially launched a new app, called WhatsApp Business.
The WhatsApp Business app was announced by Facebook on Wednesday in an effort to make business communication with customers more modernized for SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) on the popular messaging platform.
As of this writing, WhatsApp Business is only available free on Android in the US, UK, Mexico, Italy and Indonesia, with more countries coming soon. WhatsApp did not state when or if an iOS version would be available.
The WhatsApp Business app will be rolled out across the world in the coming weeks, which is when it can be expected in Zimbabwe.
The app is aimed at small business owners, it’s designed to make it easier for them to communicate with customers and manage their orders.
“WhatsApp Business enables you to have a business presence on WhatsApp, communicate more efficiently with your customers, and help you grow your business,” the company says.
“With the app, businesses can interact with customers easily by using tools to automate, sort, and quickly respond to messages.”
For those who use a business number and a personal one, both the WhatsApp Business and WhatsApp Messenger apps can be used on the same android phone and registered with your different numbers. WhatsApp Business is also harmonious with WhatsApp Web, the app’s desktop web browser client.
WhatsApp Business could be a big boon in Zimbabwe, where more informal platforms, like WhatsApp, are used by small businesses to advertise, liaise and sell to customers.
Techunzipped has contacted WhatsApp for information on when an iOS app will be released.
