Zanu expresses unflinching support for Palestine

Top government and Zanu pf officials expressed support for the people of Palestine in its longstanding battle against Israel’s occupation. ‘Solidarity Day’ was observed at the Embassy of Pakistan, harare to pay homage to the valiant people of pakistane who have made sacrifices to exercise their legitimate right of self-determination.

speaking at the event Zanu Pf Secretary for External Affairs Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Deputy Minister of Information Kindness Paradza, Charmain of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee of Foreign Affairs Webster Shamhu and Zanu Pf Secretary for Information Christopher Mutsvangwa were among the top Zanu PF officials who graced the occasion.

Speaking at the conference, Mumbengegwi said Zimbabwe won the liberation struggle in 1980, a conclusive act that if Palestine picks up the threads, they can have independence from Israel.

He said, “We subdued an enemy who had declared that they would remain in power for a thousand years, therefore when we gather here as Zimbabweans, we fully support the liberation of the people of Palestine.

“We are enlisting ourselves as part of a worldwide network of solidarity movements and networks, which together will develop to the liberation of the Palestinian people.

“Yes, they can talk of their beliefs in a two-state solution, but it is just a mere talk. Recently, the secretary of state of the United States was reported to be in the region talking about a two-state solution, but why do you talk about a two-state solution, when Israel is occupying power continuously to encroach on Palestine territory?”

Hon Kindness Paradza, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister said Zimbabwe shares a history of oppression and colonialism with Palestine, hence the solidarity and unwavering friendship.

“Palestine and Zimbabwe enjoy cordial relations. Zimbabwe supports the 2 state solution. I witnessed pathetic apartheid by Isreal when I visited Palestine. The unjust treatment of Palestinians should be condemned.’ he added.

Ahead of its Dec 29 swearing-in, the new Israeli government declared that the Jewish people had an exclusive right to all parts of the occupied land and issued fresh eviction notices.

In Wednesday’s debate, UN Security Council members expressed concern at plans to advance settlements and stress that settlement advancement undermines the prospects for a two-state solution.
